The house

The whole building is pointed at the view

Twenty metres of infinity pool run off the point of the building and stop in mid-air over the canopy. Behind it: five king suites, an open kitchen, and a terrace with no fourth wall — the jungle comes right up to the edge, and the Pacific sits out in front of it.

Housekeeping comes daily. Ten people can share the house and still lose each other for an afternoon.

The setting

Fifteen minutes from the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park, five from town — and far enough up the ridge that the loudest thing at night is the forest.

The building

Built for this exact ridge

Concrete, glass and bamboo, drawn by two architecture studios — one in Geneva, one in Ojochal — for this specific hillside. The wings of the house reach out over the slope, so almost every room, and the pool, faces the ocean.

Twenty metres, aimed at the horizon

The lap pool runs off the far corner of the house and seems to float above the treetops. Swim to the end and there is nothing between you and the Pacific.

The view

Ocean, jungle and mountains at once

From the terrace, the rainforest rolls down to the coastline and the lights of Quepos, with the mountains rising behind the house. The view wraps 290 degrees around you.
